If you’re a Democrat in Hudson County under the age of 36, you’ll now have the opportunity to join a civic activism organization tailored to your specific demographic and issues. Just one day before Thanksgiving, we’re tremendously grateful to witness the formation of the Hudson County Young Democrats!
The group, which is supported by Assembly Speaker and Hudson County Democratic Chairman Vincent Prieto, will hold its first meeting on December 7th. Here’s a list of the organization’s key members:
President- Brian Platt, Director of the Jersey City Office of Innovation
Vice President- Michael Makarski, MWW Public Affairs Director
Treasurer- Luis Rabelo, North Bergen BOE Trustee
Secretary- Hannah Peterson, Research Assistant for Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop
Membership and Outreach Coordinator- Koren Frankfort, Consultant to Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise and Assemblyman Jamel Holley and National YDA Finance Director
Events and Activities Director- Marelyn Rivera, Chief of Staff to Freeholder Anthony Romano
Communication Director- Phil Swibinski, Vision Media
“Our mission is to encourage civic activism and inspire greater participation and involvement in the political process here in Hudson County,” said President Brian Platt in a statement. “We are excited to get started and on behalf of the organization I would like to thank Chairman Prieto, Mayor Steve Fulop and all the Democratic leaders in Hudson who will be helping to make this a success.”
